Microsoft integration
Hitprobe connects to Microsoft Ads and protects your account by triggering device-level events for the Microsoft UET Tag. This enables suspect devices to be automatically added to an exclusion audience, ensuring they no longer see your ads in future campaigns.
Setup steps
Install the Hitprobe tag
After signing up for a free Hitprobe account, you’ll be guided through an onboarding process to provide details about the website you want to protect.
You’ll also be prompted to install a small JavaScript code called the Hitprobe tag, which can be added directly to your website or via a tag manager like Google Tag Manager - follow the steps here to add the tag.
Set up the tracking template
Hitprobe uses a click tracker in your account-level tracking template to record every click, even if the visitor bounces before the page loads. If the tracking template isn’t found, Hitprobe will automatically offer to set it up for you.
Alternatively, you can choose to set up the tracking manually, where the console will display the tracking template with your site key pre-filled for easy copying. This setup applies across your entire account without needing to edit individual ads.
If you're manually adding your site key to the tracking template, you'll need to ensure that you replace <your_site_ key> with the specific site key for your site, ensuring you delete the brackets.
Note - If you have existing tracking templates that can’t be changed, you can use the Final URL suffix field in Microsoft Ads to pass the necessary data to the Hitprobe tag, without routing clicks through our tracker - you can read more about this here.
Audience exclusions
When a session is blocked at the device level, Hitprobe automatically adds the visitor to a Microsoft Ads audience, which you can exclude from your campaigns to prevent them from seeing future ads.
When you connect (or reconnect) Microsoft Ads, Hitprobe checks if audience exclusion is set up, and if not, it will guide you through creating and associating the exclusion audience with all campaigns.
Blocked users will automatically be added to this audience, ensuring your Microsoft Ads integration is fully optimized.
To check audience exclusion status, go to Manage site > Ad networks, find the Microsoft ad account panel, and select Manage > Audience setup.
