Google Search integration
Hitprobe connects to Google Search Ads and protects the account in three different ways:
- Adds IP addresses and IP networks as Google account-level exclusions, in near-time as suspect IPs are recognized. This blocks those IPs or networks from being served further ads.
- Triggers device level events for the Google Tag to enable suspect devices to be added to an exclusion audience. This allows the audience to be excluded from campaigns, so those devices don't see any further ads.
- Adds suspect referrer domain names as Google account-level exclusions. This is useful when advertising outside of Google-owned properties. This stops ads being served again on domains identified as very low quality.
Setup steps
Install the Hitprobe tag
After you sign up for a free Hitprobe account, you'll go through an onboarding step that will allow you to provide details of the website you want to protect, and walk you through installing a small JavaScript code called the Hitprobe tag.
You'll need to follow the steps to add this tag to your website, either directly, or via Google Tag Manager.
Connect your Google Ads account
The next step will be to connect your Google Ads account. You'll follow some simple steps on screen to authorize the Hitprobe app to access Google Ads and provide the permissions it needs.
Once connected, Hitprobe will automatically configure the Hitprobe click tracking template for you. But don't worry, we'll check with you before doing this.
Set up audience exclusion
This is optional, but highly recommended, especially for higher volume accounts. Once your Google Ads account is connected, follow the additional steps to set up audience exclusion.
Google Manager Accounts (MCC)
Hitprobe supports connecting to Google Ads accounts under MCC (manager) accounts. To do this, connect Google, then follow the steps to first select the manager account, and then the client/customer account.
