To install Hitprobe on a WordPress site, you'll first need to get the Hitprobe tag code that you'll need to add. Then, you can choose any popular free custom code plugin for WordPress to add that code to your site.

First, get the Hitprobe tag
After you sign up for a free Hitprobe account, you'll go through an onboarding step that will provide the tag for you to copy from the screen. Keep this ready for the next step. Alternatively, see our guide to how to configure your tag.
Adding the tag using WPCode
WPCode is a free and popular plugin that will let you add custom JavaScript and CSS to your site. You'll first need to install and activate this plugin, then follow the steps below to past the Hitprobe tag into your site.
- From the WordPress menu, select Code Snippets → + Add Snippet.
- Hover over the option to Add Your Custom Code (New Snippet) and choose Use Snippet.
- Add a title to help you remember what the snippet does. For example, "Hitprobe tag".
- Set the Code Type equal to JavaScript Snippet.
- Add the code for the Hitprobe tag (from the previous step) in the Code Preview box.
- In the Insertion section, make sure Auto Insert and selected, and Location is set to Site Wide Header.

- Find Custom CSS & JS in the WordPress menu, and select Add Custom HTML.

- Leave Where on page set to Header, and Where in site set to Frontend.

- On the WordPress main menu, find HFCM, and then choose Add New.
- Add a Snippet Name to help you remember what the snippet does. For example, "Hitprobe tag".
- Leave the other options set as default. Snippet Type should be JavaScript, Site Display should be Site Wide, and Location should be Header.
- Add the code for the Hitprobe tag (from the previous step) in the Snippet / Code field.
- Finally, click the Save button to make the tag live.
